New Guidance Notes
Two more guidance notes have been added to the original eleven by the government and can be down loaded from www.communities.gov.uk/fire
GUIDE 12 – MEANS OF ESCAPE FOR DISABLED PEOPLE
This is a supplementary guide and should be read alongside other guides in the Fire Safety Risk Assessment series.
It provides additional information on accessibility and means of escape for disabled people.
The document can be used to assist in completing the record of significant findings and should include a detailed account of measures that are in place to facilitate and assist disabled people to leave the building.
The appendices provide examples and information to help carry out the assessment and record Personal Emergency Escape Plans (PEEPs).
GUIDE 13 - ANIMAL PREMISES AND STABLES
This guide is for use at all equine establishments, stables, livery yards and other animal establishments and for all employers, proprietors, managers, occupiers and owners.
The Fire Safety Order does not include or require the safety of animals from fire to be a mandatory part of your statutory fire risk assessment.
However, generally the ‘welfare of horses’ as discussed in the Government’s Horse Strategy Document for England and Wales does include the safety of animals from fire.
