Firewatch Group Charity Golf Day Raises £8,050!
Firewatch Group achieved an excellent result once again at their annual charity golf day. Over £8000 was raised for two charities, The Devon Air Ambulance Trust and The South West MS Centre. It was an action packed day of golf and fun competitions at Dainton Park Golf Club, with 118 golfers taking part. The scene was set for the day with the promise of 6 months ice cream for the ‘coolest trousers’ (see pics). Fighting off strong competition from Greg Clark saw Howard Incles win with his Union Jack plus fours!
Playing as pairs and teams of four, the golfers had to work together, swapping shots and being limited to one club and a putter on occasion. Arriving at the 8th hole after enjoying complimentary refreshments they all attempted to get a Hole-In-One with a prize of £10,000 cash; unfortunately they were unsuccessful.
A stableford scoring system resulted in the winners of the pairs, Paul Kerswell and Kevin Hewings, from the team of The English Table Caterers with a score of 68 points. The team prize went to Jonathon Wharmby’s Harold Michelmore team.
Various other prizes were won such as; ‘nearest the fire extinguisher and the urn’, sponsored by Total Event Hire and the hotly contested ‘target putting competition’ for a Jaguar XF for the weekend, donated by Stratstone Jaguar Plymouth, won by Newton Abbot businessman Stephen Adams. The evening concluded with a miniature paramedic, representing the Devon Air Ambulance, dropping from a radio controlled helicopter, giving the winner an Audi of their choice for the weekend donated by Silver Street Automotive Group.
Organiser Martin Smith CEO of the Firewatch Group commented “It was very pleasing to raise such a significant amount of money for two great charities, and everybody having a good time as well. It could not have been achieved without the support of so many local businesses and individuals, and the great hospitality of Dainton Park.”
